Measurement Units define how the quantity of an item is measured in SERTICA 6. They provide a consistent way of registering quantities when items are used in areas such as inventory and procurement.
For example, if an item is handled individually, you can create a Measurement Unit called Pieces. Other measurement units could represent quantities such as kilograms, litres, metres, boxes or other units relevant to your organization.
Using consistent Measurement Units makes it easier to ensure that item quantities are understood and handled in the same way throughout SERTICA.
Example: Create a Measuring Unit
To create a measuring unit:
- Select Items in the menu on the left hand side.
- Select Measuring Units in the sub-menu.
- Click on the New Measuring Unit button.
4. Insert Measuring Unit No. (typically an abbreviation of the measuring unit) and Measuring Unit Name (Pieces, metres, litres, etc.)
5. Click on the Create button.
The measuring unit can now be added to an item.
